A Promise, A Surprise, and A Gift for You
September 2025 Newsletter
Dear Friends,
Some days we just need a gentle reminder that God is with us. Do you need to hear that promise today? That promise steadies me, and I pray it encourages you, too. When life feels heavy, even the smallest flicker of light can remind us that hope is still alive.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” —Psalm 46:1
💡 Something unexpected: Did you know fireflies glow not because they have to, but because they were created to shine? I think hope is like that—it flickers even in the dark. What a beautiful picture of God's faithfulness to us. His promises are true.

📖 Exciting news: My new children’s book, And the Sun Came Up: A True Story of Grief and Hope, will be available soon! It’s written about my own journey of childhood loss to remind families that light always returns after the darkest night. I will be especially excited when I can show you a book cover!
✨ Free resource for you: If you haven’t already, download Seven Affirmations of Hope for hurting kids and families at https://marygracejohnsonauthor.com. It’s a simple tool to speak life and truth into your hearts. You can also catch up on my writing under the Blogs tab. I've been working hard to bring you hope through my words, but more than that, through Scripture.
👓 Suggested reading: I recently won a giveaway through Goodreads for the Discerning God's Best series by Heidi Gray McGill. I'm currently reading Book 1. So far, I am really enjoying it! I'll let you know my thoughts as I read through the series. It begins in 1800s America, where faith, love, and resilience intertwine. There are four books in the Goodreads set that I'm reading. Here is each book, with the Amazon description.
Desire of My Heart - Book 1
A determined young woman. A widowed father. A marriage of convenience that may just be God’s perfect plan.
With All My Heart - Book 2
Two wounded souls, Pete and Singing Bird, must overcome cultural barriers and personal pain to embrace a love that defies expectations.
Stitched on My Heart (A Christmas Companion Novella) Book 2.5
Against the backdrop of a raw yet hopeful frontier Christmas, Delphina and Moses discover healing often starts with a single act of kindness.
Where Hearts Belong (Bundle Exclusive Short Story) - Bonus story
Juan and Essie find belonging and joy in a season of grace. Only available in this collection.

🌟 Finally, I’d love to hear: what’s one small “firefly moment” you’ve noticed lately—a glimpse of light in the middle of your week? Hit reply and share.
With hope,
